As a result, the AA has issued a warning, as cars that are not in operation for long periods of time can lead to issues, especially if drivers ignore their MOT date with the intention to rearrange when lockdown measures ease.

However, there has been no indication that MOTs will be extended during this third lockdown, and as servicing still applies to keep a vehicle under warranty, if drivers fail to comply, this could leave them facing a flat battery, seized brakes or flat tyres, which is why it’s important to keep a vehicle maintained as regularly as possible.
